Lesbian Parental Rights

Another step forward for equality and rights of mothers, even if they are not the birth mother.

This article is about making states allow non-married individuals the right to adopt.  This is of interest to me because as some of you know I did a research paper titled, “Gay and Lesbian Adoption: the Next Battle of Rights”.  In my paper I argued that this is not a LGBT issue, but a family issue and it is really about the children who are in foster care.  There are thousands of children who are eligible to be adopted, yet states are not letting individuals who are “qualified” to give these children a loving home the right to adopt them based on their sexual orientation or marital status.
